Ordinary browsing
The website code does not install advertising or profiling cookies. Languages use separate URLs and catalogue searches run in your browser. Images, fonts and the logo video are served locally. Any technical tools used by the hosting infrastructure remain subject to the review described on the Privacy page.
Aggregate statistics and private area
The website uses an aggregate statistics counter without cookies, visitor identifiers or fingerprinting. Daily totals are retained for up to 400 days. Search terms are not stored. Private area authentication is managed by the platform and may require technical session tools, which must be included in the institutional review.
Preference storage
The maindh_external_media_v1 entry in browser localStorage, which is distinct from cookies, stores only whether embedded media are allowed or blocked and the date of that choice. It expires after 180 days and can be removed earlier by clearing site data. It contains no personal identifier and is not sent to an analytics service. Its only purpose is to respect your choice.
Optional external media
Sketchfab 3D models and tours on dhekalos.it and www.marcheology.it are blocked by default. An explicit choice is requested before loading them. You can keep them blocked and continue reading the other pages. Providers may receive your IP address and browser information and set cookies; their names and duration depend on the platform and are not set by the laboratory. Alternatively, open the resource directly on its provider’s website.
Gigapixel and links
The gigapixel viewer uses local software and loads image tiles from distori.org when you select “Explore in high resolution”. Its code adds no identifier. Links to social networks, videos and articles do not embed those services; connection occurs only when you open the links.
Changing your choice
Use “Cookie preferences” at the bottom of any page to allow or block external media. Blocking stops embedded viewers open on this page. Other open tabs receive the change when browser storage is available. Withdrawal does not remove cookies already set by providers; use your browser settings to delete them. Clearing site data restores the default block.
Legal framework
Relevant references are Regulation (EU) 2016/679, Italian Legislative Decree 196/2003 as amended, particularly Article 122, and the Italian data protection authority’s guidelines of 10 June 2021. Changes to the statistics system or additional services require a new configuration and notice review.
