Mission

Our mission

Maindh_Lab brings together culture, technology and AI to study, protect and share tangible and intangible heritage in new, accessible and participatory ways. This foundation guides our research and opens a dialogue with other creative and productive sectors.

We investigate AI methods, develop algorithms and create applications for institutions, communities and businesses: from heritage to fashion and design, from the marine industry to data analysis for service companies. Responsible use of AI and human supervision guide our work. The laboratory supports the university’s Third Mission, turning research into shared knowledge and innovation.

Solutions

What we do with AI

We turn data, images, texts, 3D models and geospatial information into tools for analysis, interpretation, communication and decision support. We integrate AI, geomatics, computer vision, data analysis, digital heritage and software development.

AI engineering & development

Developing new AI

From defining the problem to designing, training and integrating algorithms and models.

  • Designing and developing new AI algorithms
  • Data preparation and engineering
  • AI model training
  • Customising AI solutions
  • Programming and software integration
  • Generative and LLM pipeline development
  • Model validation, testing and interpretability
  • Human-in-the-loop approaches: human supervision and participation

AI driven solutions

Applying AI

Solutions bringing AI to research, conservation and heritage interpretation, and to creative and production processes.

  • Art recognition and support for artwork attribution
  • 3D digitisation using NeRF and Gaussian Splatting
  • Virtual assistance with chatbots and avatars
  • Reconstructing historical settings and figures
  • Predictive monitoring of sites
  • Systems supporting human creativity
  • 3D model generation from multimodal data
  • Business data analysis and decision support for service companies

Research, development and applications inform one another. Interpretation of results and human supervision accompany the process.
