NEXT-MUSEUM Erasmus+ project

Digital Curator training and new accessible museum installations

NEXT-MUSEUM Erasmus+ project

Completed in 2024, the project helped small and medium-sized museums adopt digital tools for management, cultural promotion and visitor experiences through the new role of Digital Curator. Led by Fondazione Marche Cultura, it involved Italy, Greece, Croatia and Spain, with a broad Italian partnership. Outputs included guidelines for responsible use of digital technologies, international training in Patras and national training in Ancona, three pilot actions in Italy, Spain and Croatia, and a Digital Operation Plan for each museum partner. The Italian case created a new installation at Cagli’s Archaeological and Via Flaminia Museum. Bronze figures from the Coltona votive deposit, found near Cagli and now held by the National Archaeological Museum of the Marche, returned virtually to their place of origin. The aim was to involve young people in discovering and promoting heritage, improve museum accessibility and strengthen links with the local community. This pilot, “Travelling with the Warriors of Cagli”, won the national Inclusione 3.0 award in Macerata. As technology partner, UNIVPM coordinated research and implementation, contributed to experience design, digitised the bronze figures and coordinated the installation and 3D printing.
